Bathrooms

Here are just a few examples of bathroom fixtures that were available in 1956. Pastel colors were all the rage with pink, green, blue, yellow, and lavender overshadowing the basic white. Companies such as Eljer,Crane, Briggs, Kohler, and American Standard  were founded in the late 1800s or early 1900s, and are still in operation today.

The stylish bathroom would contain matching accessories beyond the towels and bathmat. In 1954 Northern introduced pastel toilet tissue and in 1956 Scott soon followed with their own version. These were later phased out in the 1980s after unfounded rumors of the scents and dyes causing cancer.
