Space Age Apartments

Yesterday on our way to North Portland for the Crown Motel Sign documentary shoot, we took some pictures of some awesome apartments located between NE 105th and 109th and Prescott and Wygant.

The Astro Apartments were built in 1967 and are trimmed in pink!

The Kamani Apartments built in 1969 are right next door trimmed in teal with a Poly-pop theme!

Around the corner on Wygant lies the 1965 Satellite Apartments trimmed in blue!

United Metal Trades Association

Located at 909 NE 19th at Pacific this 1961 commercial building is one of my favorites so far. It is visible from the Banfield and I first thought it was part of the modern complex of Concorde Career Institute on 14th and Irving. Last weekend we decided to check it out up close.

These photos don't do it justice but it appears to float and seems untouched since 1961. I could see inside into a conference room where I about died as saw at least 12 Moller chairs around an oblong teak table.

I am going to have to come back during the week and ask for a tour and get information on the architect. It is truly a masterpiece!

Super Bowl Sunday

While everyone was glued to the television we decided to venture out to SE Portland to check out the houses north of Reed College off of Steele.

January 2008 photo shoot

Following a tip from this 1956 Oregonian ad we turned the corner at 11634 SE Lincoln and found this lovely example of what we think might have been the model home as well as 2 more streets of well built clerestory ranches. The ad boasts of mahogany throughout so I can only imagine the interiors. This neighborhood has tons of potential!

Just down the street from this school was this awesome church which I immediately remembered that I attended preschool here when I was 4 years old. Gethsemane Lutheran is located at 11560 SE Market.

Stay tuned for pix of the Westside!

Westside as Promised!

We then hit the road to Beaverton, being  Eastsiders it was uncharted territory and we relied on MapQuest because my Garmin was dead.

We stopped in at 2 Rummer open houses and took a few quick shots of the Forest Glen Ct area
